More about Dals Ed, Sweden

Jose speaks in the chapel at the inaugural service

This article will be a pictorial. I have written a good deal about how God worked through a Spanish couple, who moved to Scandinavia, feeling directly led of God. Having never been in Sweden, God showed him a small town there, named Dals Ed… Valle of the Pact. I won't tell the story again, I simply mention that Jose Hurtado and his wife, Marga, 20 years later, find themselves in the town of Dals Ed, Sweden, but I can assure you, that it is by the direct intervention of God. I received a telephone call from him several months ago, telling of plans to start a Bible school in a hotel in the town. It began with 12 students and 4 more have been added at the beginning of the second semester.

Hotel and Bible School, "The Great Commission"
Jose figures that the hotel can accommodate about 20 students, but some of us, along with Jose, feel that that will not be enough in the future. Recently Jose put in a bid on a beautiful property on a lake shore in the same town, with a chapel and other buildings to house another 30 students. Although two other people put in higher bids on the same property, it landed in Jose´s hands.

Last Sunday, he and Marga, along with the students and staff, held a special inauguration on the new property. Here, I will let you read Jose´s report of the event:

The new property

"Today, we inaugurated the church of Dals Ed. We were 120 people and had to put seats in the aisle. Then we had coffee and rolls in the yellow house. Very special.

Gun and Leif came, the elderly men that had Luthagard (the former owners) before. They told their story and that of RETO, and they were grateful to God that RETO has it now. It was very emotional.

There were representatives of the local churches, who, without being in the program, said a word and came to congratulate us with bouquets of flowers, very appreciative for the work of RETO. The people sat, some crying... the presence of God was strong.

At the end of the song, (Revive Us) everybody stood and sang along, clapping their hands. It was impressive. Glory to God!"

Come, behold the works of the Lord

Jose and Marga held the inauguration for the new property in Dals Ed, Sweden, on Sunday. Saturday night, I was speaking in Marga's hometown, Melide, Spain. Years ago, I was there, when people from Coruña held evangelistic meetings. It was not too long ago, when the townspeople held their first meeting in a new church. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see the Lord building His church in Melide. Marga must be thrilled about a church in her home town. What a great bunch of people! I´ll share a photo taken last Saturday night. (People sent this to me).

After the meeting, Carlos and Cruz, who drove me to Melide, and I, ate octopus at a Pulperia, a restaurant dedicated to the specialty. We were invited by Marga's cousin (in the red shirt), Manuel, his wife and son. They have a daughter in the Bible school in Sweden.
